When I was 10 years old, I was gifted a little boom box radio with a tape deck. As soon as I got my hands on some blank tapes, I started recording all my favorites off KBER. A couple of years later, my older brother got a Discman and began building a collection of CDs. Metallica’s Load had just come out, and I was hooked immediately. He amassed all the familiar bands we play here on KBER—Audioslave, Bush, STP, Megadeth, and the list goes on—which I happily helped myself to when he wasn’t looking.
I have my older brother to thank for my love of all things ’90s grunge, metal, and rock. And I have my dad to thank for introducing me to the bands that came before the ’90s—Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Queen, Guns N’ Roses, and more.
Every report card in elementary school said something along the lines of “Good student, but talks too much.” In my senior year of high school, I was voted “Most likely to have her own radio show.” Fast forward many years, and here I am—pushing buttons and saying things on the very station I grew up listening to and loving.
It’s been a wild ride, but I’m loving every minute of spinning the loud, the legendary, and everything in between here on KBER 🤘
