Citadel Broadcasting has announced that it is the first radio broadcasting company in its entirety to partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in its "Green Power Partnership" program (www.epa.gov/greenpower).  As part of its commitment, Citadel will purchase renewable energy certificates to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the company's conventional use of electricity.  Citadel and its radio network division, ABC Radio Networks, have also pledged to run more than $1 million in airtime to promote the benefits of going green to listeners' over the next two years.  More than 200 radio stations and offices across the Citadel group will be looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and provide environmental leadership in the community they serve.  For example, news/talk KGO/San Francisco in transitioning to solar-paneled media towers with its "Tune Into Your Planet" initiative, and news/talk WJR/Detroit has partnered with Michigan State University to launch the "Greening of the Great Lakes" program dedicated to making the Great Lakes region a leader in environmental practices.
